The most useful response to an essay may be the one that makes its author think again.

Which argument seems incomplete? What distinction has been missed? Send a short response, ideally 150–400 words, identifying the essay you are discussing.

Please say how you would like to be credited, or whether you prefer anonymity. Your email address will not be included in a published letter.

Before a letter appears

Selected letters and any proposed edits will be shared with their writers for approval before publication. Sending a letter does not guarantee publication. Please avoid including private information about other people.
